Discussion: Combating Homelessness & the Center for Health and Housing
Erica Smith, Executive Director , Helping Hands of Springfield
Springfield has seemingly seen a growing number of individuals experiencing homelessness over recent years. Two local organizations, Helping Hands of Springfield and the local Salvation Army, are looking to root out homelessness at its cause by focusing on individual’s health and permanent supportive housing options instead of strictly short term shelter.
A partnership between Helping Hands, the Salvation Army, Memorial Behavorial Health, and HSHS St. John’s Hospital is proposing a Center for Health and Housing downtown that would provide a one-stop shop for individuals experiencing homeless to access mental and physical health care, emergency shelter, and permanent housing assistance. Join us to learn more about this exciting development!

- The 2019 Levitt AMP Springfield weekly concert series on the North Mansion Block at 6pm. This is an ongoing every Thursday night this summer until August 1st.
