My Names is John Houlihan, and I am the candidate for Alderperson in Ward 7. Before the question is asked yes, I am Bill and Cindy Houlihan’s son and yes, I am one of the triplets. I grew up in Springfield around the political scene which has helped me prepare for running for Alderperson. The number one thing I have learned is being available 24/7 to the constituents you represent. As I have been walking neighborhoods, I have come across issues such as a fallen tree branch in Lincolnshire and streetlamps being out in Westchester and Sherwood. These issues might be smaller than other issues that I may face on the city council, but they are important to the people in these neighborhoods. I have worked for the State Senate for the last 12 years where I have learned everything that goes on behind the scenes in the legislative process. This experience has taught me to do as much research as possible on both sides of an issue before making a decision.
