Family

Father, Richard E. Thomas, son of a sole proprietor. Estel Elmer Thomas started a local mechanical and body shop business in 1934.

Mother, Rosemary F. Thomas, daughter of a immigrant which traveled from Italy to arrive at Ellis Island to start their USA citizenship.

Married to Therese Thomas, customer service manager Schnucks supermarket, Sangamon avenue in Ward 4.

4 children, Jessica Cox, Kristi Dailey, Cory Hurst-Thomas and Brent Judd.

5 Grandchildren with the 6th due in March 2019.

History

1962 – John George Thomas was born.

  • First location of residency was on North 9th street in a small house.

1965 – parents bought a house built by Barker-Lubin on Fairfield Drive which my Mother still resides.

1982 – moved to North 9th street, close to viaduct.

1992 – Rented a Condo in Twin lakes.

1995 – Built a House on Buena Vista that I still reside.

Schooling

Fairview Elementary School, Edison Middle School and graduated from Lanphier High School in 1980.

Several credits at Lincoln Land Community College pertaining to business.

Jobs

Junior and Senior year – Participated in the CWT work program threw school and worked at E.E. Thomas in afternoons.

Age 16 – Worked at King Pin lanes.

Age 17 – Springfield Park District Lanphier park cleaning the stadium after ball games, also running the scoreboard for the AAA Springfield Redbird professional baseball club.

Age 18 – Full time at E.E. Thomas garage.

Age 29 – Purchased business called E.E. Thomas garage.

Age 56 – Owner operator of a 3rd generation 85 year old Springfield business called E.E. Thomas garage.

Contributions to community

Early 90s – leader of Tiger scout troop Ridgely Elementary School.

  • Managed FYAA youth baseball teams.

1991 – Started to get familiar with politics. Attended several functions.

2002 – Joined the Greater Springfield Bowling Association (GSBA) board, with over 2000 members.

2010 – Became President of Elmer C. Fisher 700 Bowling Club till 2016.

2011 – Write-in candidate for Mayor of Springfield, Illinois.

2012 – Appointed President of the GSBA board for 2 consecutive years

  • Manages Central Illinois Bowling tournament which annually brings 1.5 million dollars to the community.

2015 – Joined the Twin Lakes Home Owner association , becoming president from 2016 to present.

2015 – Joined the Twin Lakes Home Owner.
