Alleys – A 2026 Focus
ICON’s 2026 Worst Alley Makeover Contest is an initiative aimed at revitalizing some of Springfield’s most neglected alleys. Alleys across Springfield suffer from illegal dumping, overgrowth, bulky debris, and sanitation access issues — all of which contribute to safety concerns and neighborhood decline. ICON’s contest aims to address these issues by empowering residents and volunteers to reclaim these shared spaces.
On Friday, April 24, two alley makeovers were done as part of the United Way Day of Caring.
